Bed & Breakfast

We hope that you will find your stay at Kaurivale a very special time. Many people that have stayed with us remain friends, keep in touch and revisit.

When you stay at Kaurivale it’s quite possible that you will be our only guests. Unless it’s the Northland Field Days week when things just get really busy in Dargaville.
After all you are guests in our home and we want you to feel as relaxed and at home as possible. We try to organise it this way but cannot guarantee it. Usually it all works out.

Most couples that stay with us request the Ensuite Room with queen bed. For a one night stay in this room – the Bed and Breakfast price is NZ$200.00 inc. GST. Please enquire price for longer stays.

Three other bedrooms are available. These rooms have a private bathroom and are great for families or groups of friends. Two rooms have queen beds and one has two single beds.

If you are a family or group requiring more than one room we invite you to enquire about our prices.

Please: To stay at Kaurivale – Bookings are essential.
If you would like an evening meal just let us know in advance. Ideally it’s good to have a couple of days notice if you’re unsure at time of booking. Many people who make Kaurivale their first stop after leaving Auckland Airport really appreciate not having to go out for a meal on their first night.

Alternatively there are restaurants, cafes and different types of takaways in Dargaville. The Funky Fish at Baylys Beach is also a popular place to dine.

For 2 weeks in February 2004, I had the privilege to stay with Kate and Steve Smith at Kaurivale, farm stay in Dargaville. After 9 months travelling around the world, I needed a break in a peaceful environment. In Kaurivale I was able to participate in the farm life: milking the cows, moving cattle from pasture to pasture, tend to flower beds, drench cattle… while staying in a very comfortable room and eating great meals. As a bonus Kate and Steve are the perfect tour guides. I was able to visit the major tourist sites of the region: sun bathing on a deserted beach, have a picnic by the Kai Iwi Lakes, visit the Waipoua forest and admire the majestic Kauri trees. Eat fish and chips by the beach at Opononi. I recommend you warmly a stay at Kaurivale, for one night of peacefulness or the live the full farming experience for a few days. Enjoy your stay. – Chantal Charbonneau, Quebec, Canada.

If you’re travelling with your horse, boat, bike, kayak etc, we’ve got room to spare for grazing and safe, secure parking and we’re happy to pick you up from Dargaville if need be. If you’re on the road a lot in this area, enquire about our corporate rates. Bookings are Essential!
